The Reading Room
I have been daydreaming about starting a literacy nonprofit in Cleveland for years, and I'm exploring that space and networking with people who are currently in the field. My inspirations are 826 Valencia, Chicago's Open Books store and the Literacenter, and the tutoring/scholarship program at Chicago Lights, where I used to work.
Cleveland is a strong candidate for expanded work in this area. There is demonstrated need, but also a strong, involved community. I have an extensive network of support, including nonprofit resources and personal connections for our leadership and volunteer corps. I also have the skill set to start and run a nonprofit, and the means to fund my own labor while we get off the ground.
I would love advice, commentary, and BOOKS. Visit our website, and then message me with any and all of those!
